Beauty Products That Belong In Your Summer Makeup Routine
Less is more. This is a lesson I always live by with makeup. In the summer it is extra important because no one wants to have a layer of makeup caked on their face that is sweating right off. That’s just not it! Half the work of making sure your makeup looks flawless is making sure your skin is prepped and taken care of. Your face is your canvas, you have to make sure it’s just right before you start painting and creating something truly beautiful.
Personally, summer is my favorite time to wear makeup because everyone just has a natural glow to them. There is no better glow than Vitamin D. Now with that said it is so incredibly important you protect your skin from the sun. A little color can be good, but trust me 40 years down the line you’re not going to love the wrinkles and sun spots.
In the summer I don’t find a foundation or any coverage other than concealer to be necessary for me. Even when it’s not summer I opt for something lighter like a skin tint or a bb cream because it looks so much more natural. After my face is prepped and moisturized I usually go in with a concealer under the eyes just to brighten things up and cover up any blemishes. I make sure it is seamlessly blended using both my fingers and beauty blender. Using just concealer is what is going to help you escape the layers and layers of makeup. Guaranteed to be just the right amount of coverage you need!
After a little bit of coverage, I like to keep things real simple with the rest of the face. All you need is your favorite blush and a nice and dewy highlight. Remember to always apply blush to the bridge of your nose for a perfect sunkissed look. I also like to put a little bit at the very top of my forehead and the bottom of my chin, it enhances that sunkissed look. I also suggest cream products for both your blush and highlighter. This way it will melt into your skin instead of laying on top as a powder would.
If there is one thing I feel like I can not leave the house without doing it’s my brows. I need them locked in place to take on the day otherwise I just don’t feel like myself. I naturally have long lashes and bushy brows so I like to use products to enhance my natural features. Sometimes I will fill my brows in but this summer all I really have been reaching for is a good brow gel to do the trick.
Now we can’t forget those kissable lips! I always have a good lip duo in my purse, which made it very hard for me to choose my favorite at the moment because I am constantly rotating my lip products. But the key is lip liner and gloss. I like to look for a shade that is “my lips but better”. A shade that is almost identical to my lips but elevates them a little bit. The gloss is just to keep you looking like a glazed donut!
