My Best & Worst Picks From The 2022 Oscars Red Carpet
So the Oscars for me is pretty much a holiday. Growing up I would always watch it with my mom and she would make it such a special occasion for the two of us. We would get sushi and a charcuterie board and pretty much dedicate our whole day to the moment the celebrities step foot on that iconic red carpet at the Dolby Theater on Hollywood Boulevard.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to celebrate the day in the proper fashion as I normally would, but I definitely divulged myself in all the glamour. So here are my best and worst picks of the night.
I had to start with Zendaya because this Valentino look was just chef’s kiss. Classy, timeless, and stunning. It just checks all the boxes. The silk cropped top pairs beautifully with the floor-length embellished skirt. But the real perfect pairing is her radiance. There just isn’t a fashion moment where Zendaya is glowing.
Zoë Kravitz is giving Audrey Hepburn and I am here for it!!! You can never go wrong with pink and this gorgeous Saint Laurent dress proves my point. I love her jewels! They're simple and complement the dress perfectly. Of course, the hair just absolutely screams Audrey. A+ to Zoë for this Old Hollywood moment.
We love to see a good power couple on the red carpet (Although I will always be team Scott). Kourtney is in Mugler. I think this was the perfect look for her, as it isn’t her typical event to attend, it was the perfect amount of glam. I like that they stuck on brand with themselves as a couple by wearing all black. Kourtney has slipped perfectly into the role of rocker fiance by sporting edgier and darker looks.
They say less is more, but when it comes to an outfit I never believe that. Tiffany Hadish blew me away in this fully embellished Dolce and Gabbana gown. It is absolutely stunning and I think I screamed a little when I first saw her in it because that’s how in love with this look I am.
I simply have no words. He’s a king. This Louis Vuitton number is joining Timotheé Chalamet’s repertoire as one of his most iconic fits. The lace detailing around the sleeves of the jacket is perfection. Now I am not just saying this because I am a huge fan of his, but in my opinion, he has one of the most eclectic, up and coming, and range in male fashion. This makes me so excited to see his Met Gala look this year.
Emilia Jones rocked this stunning Dolce & Gabbana number on the red carpet. She looks radiant in it and I love that she kept her hair up to show off the halter neckline. The cutout and transitional colors work so well on her body. What is not to love here.
If you are familiar with Andrew Garfield’s red carpet looks you know he is a fan of a good velvet look. Here is sporting Saint Laurent, which we have seen him, partner, with on red carpets before. The maroon velvet blazer with the delicate bow tie made him stand out amongst all the male looks I saw for the night.
I love a good tulle moment! Sofia Carson absolutely killed this look. This also gives me Old Hollywood vibes. This Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown gives a tasteful statement while hugging her at the top with the beautiful tulle draping. Job well done!
Although Lady Gaga should have most certainly been receiving an Oscar for her amazing performance in House of Gucci, she still managed to make an appearance on stage. Let me just say I love a woman in a suit. It is such a power move and if you can pull it off go for it. It was a Ralph Lauren piece and the necklace and red lep added the perfect touch of feminity to the look.
Ok, f@$% Jake Gyllenhaal for all my Swifties out there! We do have to admit this was a very dapper look and that is why he was one of my favorite men’s looks of the night. Personally, I am a huge fan of navy and black. I never understood why people think they clash, you just have to style the colors the right way. The Givenchy jacket with the black collar is very tasteful and that is why Jake makes the cut…strictly for fashion purposes.
And now for the looks that didn’t quite make the mark
I did not know what to expect from Kristen Stewart because recently she has been having some award show looks that I have surprisingly liked, but this just did not do it for me. The problem is not the custom Chanel shorts. It is her hair and shoes. Like I said I love a woman in a suit. I think if she would have done a slicked-back hair look, maybe a high braid, and a silver strappy shoe or even metallic stiletto I think she could have pulled it off.
It’s like if Bridgerton went goth. In my opinion, this Chanel gown just hangs on Penelope Cruz, and the bow around the halter neckline just clashes. I’m sad to be disappointed by a Chanel look, but I am not a fan. Her glam team did a great job though!
Ava DuVernay’s custom take on the Louis Vuitton Resort 2022 look was a downgrade from the original runway look. The solid color, more fitted sleeves, and embellishments don’t compare to the original. The clutch is also cheugy and takes me right back to 2015.
I want to love it, but I can’t. I feel like she went to Windsor to buy this dress, but actually, it’s Roberto Cavalli. I think the large cutout with the slit is just a little too much. I also hate how the top looks like a bra with fabric draped over it. The shoes are cute and her makeup & hair get an A+.
My mom always taught me that if you don’t have anything nice to say you shouldn’t say anything at all. So I am just gonna leave Eva von Bahr’s red carpet look here for you to form your own opinions.
